Berla started her basic education at St. Theresa’s School in Accra. She then attended Achimota Senior High School and proceeded to the University of Ghana for tertiary education and later Ghana Institute of Journalism for her masters.

Berla has never disclosed who she is dating. In 2019, she was rumoured to be dating Ghanaian gospel singer, Joe Mettle. But the two denied the rumour, saying they are just friends. Joe Mettle later got married and Berla congratulated him.
