The sole child of G. A. and Vesta Mangun, Anthony Mangun was born on January 12, 1950. He was a young child when his parents agreed to become the pastors of The Pentecostals of Alexandria, the church he now leads.
He graduated from Alexandria’s Bolton High School. Before entering the full-time evangelistic ministry in the late 1960s, he studied at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana, and the Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota.
After serving in nomadic ministry for six years during which he married Mickey Lumpkin in 1972, the couple relocated to Plano, Texas, and from 1976–1981 they worked to establish a church in the Dallas metroplex.
The Mangun family returned to Alexandria, Louisiana, in 1981, and he took up the role of Senior Pastor of The Pentecostals of Alexandria.
