2021 BECE results update: The West African Examination Council(WAEC) has released the provisional 2021 BECE results of candidates who sat for their exams last year.
This was contained in a statement released by WAEC on Monday, February 28, 2022.
According to WAEC, a total of 582,167 candidates made up of 287,730 males and 284,437 females registered for the examination.
The statement said that among the registered candidate, 61 had visual impairment and 321 were identified with hearing impairment. In addition, 86 candidates had special assessment needs due to other conditions.
The total entry figure was 7.61% higher than the 2020 entry of 531,707. Out of the total number of candidates who registered, 7,315(1.28) were absent during the examination.
The statement also indicated that some examination malpractices were recorded during the examination. And after investigations by a committee set up by the Council, subject results of 138 candidates were cancelled for either
sending foreign materials into the examination hall or colluding with other candidates to cheat during the exam.
The entire results of 46 candidates were also cancelled for sending mobile phones into the hall or impersonation.
The council is also withholding subject results of 148 candidates and the entire results of 109 candidates pending conclusion of investigation into various alleged examination malpractice.

The Council has also warned the general public against fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee.
The results will be dispatched to the schools through the metropolitan/municipal/ district directors of education. Meanwhile, candidates can access their 2021 BECE results online at the council’s website www.waecgh.org
